  • 500 g ground beef or lamb Use lean meat for a healthier option.
  • 1 piece onion, chopped Adds sweetness to the filling.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup parsley, chopped Fresh parsley adds brightness.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin Brings warmth to the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Adds color and flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to your preference.
Additional ingredients
  • 1 package phyllo dough Thaw before use.
  • Olive oil for brushing For a crispy texture.
  • 1 piece egg, beaten For egg wash.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft.
  3. Add the ground beef or lamb to the skillet and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in the parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Assembly
  1. Lay a sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush lightly with olive oil. Layer another sheet on top and brush again with oil.
  2. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture on one edge of the phyllo, fold the sides over the filling, and roll tightly into a cylinder.
  3. Place the bureks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with the beaten egg.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Serve warm.

Notes

These bureks can be served with a refreshing cucumber and yogurt salad or a side of mixed greens for added nutrients. They store well in the refrigerator for up to three days and can also be frozen for later use.
